We are a small group of volunteers drawn from various walks of life who campaign for the widespread adoption of Fairtrade products in Colchester.
We have:-
- Formed a local steering group to carry the campaign forward
- Persuaded Colchester Borough Council to support and promote Fairtrade products and use them in their premises
- Obtained Fairtrade Town status certification from the Fairtrade Foundation
- Held several public events to promote Fairtrade in Colchester
- Helped a sister group make Wivenhoe a Fairtrade town
We seek to:-
- Maintain Colchester's status as a Fairtrade town
- Ensure that Fairtrade products continue to be available in local outlets
- Promote the use of Fairtrade goods in local institutions and workplaces
- Attract positive media coverage of the Fairtrade campaign
- Raise funds to cover the costs of our campaign activities
We meet about once every other month in the evening at the Friends Meeting House in Church Street to plan our future programme of activities. See the events diary for dates of future meetings
